Help out in the best place you can

There is lots to do in a small co-op in a small rural town like ours.  This is where our volunteer committee members come in to help the paid management and staff with community support in many areas.  Under the direction of the store managers, committees take on oversight and execution of vital functions like facilities, technologies, marketing, volunteer appreciation and more.

Our Committees

Management Committee

We do things a bit differently at the Yelm Food Coop, instead of one General Manager we have two store managers supported by board appointed members. We look specifically for management experience in several fields including finance, human resources, communications, training, marketing and sales.

Facilities Committee

This is for the handy folks amongst us to maintain the physical well-being of our store and keep everything maintained, running safely and smoothly.   We are always looking for members with the skills to be a part of this effort.  The more people we can get the easier it is to accomplish this vital function.  All levels of skills are most certainly welcome, from the master plumber to someone who can change the filter on the air-conditioning system on a monthly basis.  Anyone who likes to tinker or just wants to chip in periodically on large or small projects is more than welcome to join the team.

Tech Committee

The Tech Committee is dedicated to improving all aspects of Co-op operations by eliminating drudgery and repetition, reducing chances (and sources) of accidental errors.  With limited resources it’s important to make things as efficient as possible.   We have created tools such as the admin portal to automate the creation of sales cards saving hundreds of hours a year. We have continually upgraded and maintained the computers in use throughout the store.  We welcome all that are interested with the skillsets to make the co-op run efficient and more secure through technology.
